VinFast VF5 Electric Hatchback Could Soon Arrive in India

VinFast is reportedly planning to bring its compact electric hatchback VF5 to the Indian market. The Vietnamese automaker is exploring opportunities to enter the growing entry level electric vehicle segment, which has seen strong demand from urban buyers seeking affordable and practical EVs.

The VF5 is expected to be positioned below the larger VF6 SUV and compete with rivals like the Tata Tiago EV and Citroën eC3. Global versions of the VF5 offer battery options ranging from around 30 to 37 kilowatt hours with an estimated range of 270 to 330 kilometers. Its compact size combined with a relatively long wheelbase makes it well suited for city driving while providing adequate interior space.

VinFast has also indicated plans to expand its model lineup in India next year, which could include the three row Limo Green MPV and the micro EV VF3. The VF5 could potentially launch in the first half of 2026, although official details on pricing and specifications for India have not yet been confirmed.
