A shocking late night incident in Bengaluru has once again highlighted the deadly consequences of drunk driving after a speeding car jumped a road divider and crashed into a busy restaurant, an entire sequence captured clearly on CCTV. The incident occurred on the bustling 100 Feet Road in Indiranagar, an area known for its nightlife and heavy pedestrian movement even late at night. What could have turned into a major tragedy instead became a chilling reminder of how close the city came to disaster.
According to police officials, the driver was under the influence of alcohol and driving at high speed when he lost control of the vehicle. The CCTV footage shows the car veering suddenly, launching over the central divider, hitting a parked two wheeler and smashing into the outer wall of the popular restaurant Barbeque Nation. Several people standing just outside the restaurant were seen narrowly escaping the impact, stepping away seconds before the car slammed into the structure.
Miraculously, there were no fatalities reported in the incident. The rider of the two wheeler sustained minor injuries and was rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment, while the restaurant suffered structural damage. The visuals, now widely shared on social media, have sparked outrage among citizens who are questioning reckless driving habits and the lack of deterrence despite strict traffic laws.
The driver was immediately detained by the police, and the vehicle was seized. A case has been registered for rash and negligent driving and driving under the influence. Traffic police officials stated that further investigation is underway and warned that such incidents will be dealt with severely as Bengaluru continues to witness an alarming number of drunk driving cases.
