A teenager has been left with serious injuries after coming off a motorbike at Dimond Brothers Reserve in Horsley, turning an ordinary morning into a major emergency response. The 19 year old rider reportedly lost control while travelling at speed through an area near the skate park where two mounds of dirt created an unexpected obstacle. Witnesses say the impact sent the rider crashing to the ground with significant force.
Emergency services arrived quickly with multiple ambulances and a rescue helicopter dispatched to the reserve. The rider was found with a head injury along with suspected rib and pelvic fractures. A critical care doctor arrived by helicopter and performed an ultrasound on site before advising that the teenager be airlifted to St George Hospital in Kogarah for urgent specialist treatment.
Despite the severity of the crash, police confirmed that the rider had been wearing a helmet although it was heavily damaged during the fall. Paramedics noted that this likely prevented even more catastrophic injuries. The early medical assessment indicated that the rider was in a serious but stable condition at the time of transport.
The incident has raised concerns among local residents about motorbike activity in the area, especially around recreational spaces not designed for such use. Dimond Brothers Reserve is frequented by families, children and skaters, and the unexpected presence of high speed riding has been described as unsafe by several community members.
