India’s premium motorcycle market began 2026 on a high note with strong demand for litre class and middleweight performance machines. January sales figures reveal that enthusiasts continue to invest in high performance superbikes despite premium pricing, highlighting growing confidence in the segment and a maturing community of serious riders.
Leading the pack was the Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10R, which emerged as the best selling superbike of the month with 110 units sold. The litre class track focused machine has built a strong reputation for delivering race derived performance at a competitive price point. Attractive year end offers and its proven engineering played a major role in driving demand. For many riders, the ZX 10R represents the ultimate blend of everyday usability and championship winning pedigree.
Close behind was the Kawasaki Z900 with 81 units sold. Unlike the fully faired ZX 10R, the Z900 appeals to riders who prefer a naked streetfighter design paired with explosive performance. Its strong inline four engine, aggressive styling, and relatively accessible pricing have consistently made it one of the most popular big bikes in the country. The Z900 continues to attract both first time superbike buyers and experienced riders upgrading from smaller capacity machines.
The legendary Suzuki Hayabusa secured the third spot with 52 units sold. Known globally for its iconic design and high speed stability, the Hayabusa remains a dream machine for many Indian enthusiasts. The current generation combines modern electronics with the unmistakable presence that made it famous. Its continued success proves that legacy and brand value still carry immense weight in the premium motorcycle segment.
In fourth position was the Kawasaki Ninja 1100SX, recording 17 units in January. This sport touring motorcycle offers a different proposition compared to the track focused superbikes above it. With comfortable ergonomics, advanced rider aids, and strong performance, it caters to riders who seek long distance capability without sacrificing speed and excitement.
Rounding out the top five was the Triumph Daytona 660 with 13 units sold. The Daytona 660 represents a more accessible entry into the supersport category. Its triple cylinder engine delivers a distinctive character, and its balance of performance and practicality makes it attractive to riders looking for a manageable yet thrilling machine.
