KTM has once again demonstrated its commitment to high performance motorcycles by unveiling a track focused version of its recently launched superbike. The new model, known as the KTM 990 RC R Track, takes the standard 990 RC R and refines it with enhancements designed exclusively for the circuit. While the original bike impressed with its combination of power, agility and KTM’s Ready to Race ethos, the track version elevates performance to meet the demands of competitive riders.
The 990 RC R Track features a more powerful engine, a revised exhaust system and significant weight reductions. Non essential components for track use such as mirrors, lights and the side stand have been removed, allowing the bike to achieve a lower overall mass. The engine has been tuned to deliver higher output and improved torque, enabling quicker acceleration and sharper response when navigating corners or exiting straights. An Akrapovič Evolution Line exhaust contributes not only to performance gains but also produces a more aggressive exhaust note.
Handling has been upgraded with fully adjustable WP APEX suspension units front and rear, providing stability and control under demanding track conditions. Michelin Power Slick tyres replace road oriented tyres to maximise grip, and Brembo braking components offer reliable and precise stopping power. Gear ratios have been optimised for circuit riding, and a race ready quickshifter is standard to allow rapid gear changes without interrupting throttle flow.
Electronics on the track version are tailored for performance and customisation. Multiple ride modes adjust traction control, wheel slip and engine braking characteristics to suit different track conditions. A pit limiter is included along with a full colour TFT display that delivers key information clearly and efficiently for every lap. Ergonomics have been refined with lower handlebars and repositioned footpegs to provide an aggressive riding stance ideal for high speed control.
