A tragic road accident in Jabalpur has once again highlighted the deadly consequences of reckless driving, as a speeding car rammed into a group of labourers, killing two people and injuring eleven others. The incident occurred in broad daylight and sent shockwaves through the local community, raising serious questions about road safety and enforcement.
According to initial reports, the labourers were working near the roadside and had paused for lunch when the car, allegedly moving at very high speed, lost control and ploughed into them. The impact was so severe that two workers died on the spot, while several others were thrown onto the road, suffering multiple injuries. Eyewitnesses described scenes of panic and chaos as people rushed to help the victims and alerted the authorities.
Emergency services arrived quickly, and the injured were rushed to a nearby medical college hospital for treatment. Doctors have confirmed that some of the injured remain in critical condition, and efforts are ongoing to provide them with the best possible care. The victims are believed to be migrant labourers who had come to the city for work, making the tragedy even more heartbreaking for their families.
The driver of the car reportedly fled the scene immediately after the accident, triggering a police search operation. A case has been registered, and investigators are examining CCTV footage from the area to identify the vehicle and trace the accused. Police officials have assured strict action once the driver is apprehended.
