India has witnessed a remarkable rise in electric vehicle sales in 2025, with total units reaching 2.3 million. This growth reflects a significant shift in consumer preference towards cleaner mobility and highlights the impact of government policies aimed at promoting electric vehicles.
Supportive measures, including incentives for buyers and manufacturers, have encouraged adoption across two wheelers, three wheelers, and four wheelers. Two wheelers led the surge with over half of the total sales, followed by three wheelers which showed strong demand in urban areas. Electric four wheelers and commercial vehicles also recorded notable growth, signaling a broader transition in the automotive sector.
Festive and year end demand further boosted sales, with consumers taking advantage of tax benefits and seasonal offers. States such as Uttar Pradesh Maharashtra and Karnataka emerged as top markets, while Delhi Kerala and Goa demonstrated high adoption rates relative to their population.
