Heimgartner Impressed by Toyota GR Supra After First Supercar Test Laps

Andre Heimgartner has spoken positively about his first experience behind the wheel of the Toyota GR Supra following his maiden laps in Toyota’s new Supercars challenger. The early feedback from the Brad Jones Racing driver has added to the growing excitement around Toyota’s long awaited entry into the top tier of Australian touring car racing.

After completing initial test running Heimgartner said the Supra felt comfortable and confidence inspiring almost immediately.
He noted that the car responded well straight out on track allowing him to push and understand its behaviour without needing excessive setup changes. For a brand new package still in its development phase this was seen as an encouraging sign by both the driver and the team.

Heimgartner also highlighted that while the Supra has its own character compared to the cars he has raced previously the fundamentals feel strong. He pointed out that braking stability balance through corners and overall drivability stood out during the test which helped him quickly build trust in the car. Such early comfort is considered crucial as teams prepare for the competitive demands of the upcoming season.

The test forms part of Toyota’s wider preparation programme ahead of its full time entry into the Repco Supercars Championship. Brad Jones Racing has been heavily involved in the development process with multiple Supras being assembled and tested as the team works through performance and reliability targets.
