Toyota has unveiled its highly anticipated GR GT supercar which is expected to begin production and reach customers around 2027. Developed by Toyota’s Gazoo Racing division, the GR GT is designed as a road legal performance car with strong racing DNA and represents a significant step forward for the brand in the supercar segment.
The new model is powered by a 4.0 litre twin turbo V8 engine paired with a hybrid electric motor. This combination delivers exceptional power and acceleration while also incorporating hybrid efficiency technologies. Toyota aims to offer performance that can compete with established European supercars while providing the reliability and engineering excellence the brand is known for.
The GR GT features an all aluminium body frame with extensive use of carbon fibre reinforced components to keep weight low and rigidity high. This lightweight construction combined with a low centre of gravity enhances handling, cornering stability and overall driving dynamics. The focus on advanced materials and weight distribution gives the GR GT a driving character that closely resembles a race car on the road.
In addition to the road going model, Toyota has showcased an FIA GT3 racing version of the GR GT. Both the road and racing variants were developed in parallel using motorsport technology as a foundation. This approach ensures that the lessons from professional racing are integrated into the performance and engineering of the production car.
Toyota has not yet revealed final pricing or complete technical specifications, but industry experts expect the GR GT to deliver power and performance on par with high end competitors. With its hybrid powertrain, race inspired design, and advanced materials, the car is set to become one of Toyota’s most exciting and advanced vehicles upon its arrival in 2027.
