Maruti Suzuki’s Big Electric Push That Could Transform India’s EV Future

Maruti Suzuki has announced an ambitious roadmap that signals a major shift in India’s electric mobility landscape. The company is preparing to launch a series of electric vehicles by 2030 while simultaneously building a massive public charging ecosystem. With a target of installing one lakh EV chargers across the country, Maruti Suzuki aims to make electric mobility more accessible than ever before.

The company’s new digital platform called e for me brings together home charging and public charging solutions under a single interface. This unified approach solves a major concern for EV users who often struggle to locate compatible chargers across different networks. By collaborating with multiple charge point operators and integrating their stations into one platform, Maruti Suzuki hopes to simplify the charging process and encourage more customers to switch to electric models.

Maruti Suzuki has already created more than two thousand exclusive charging points across over one thousand cities in India. These existing stations form the backbone of the upcoming expansion and represent the brand’s commitment to building a nationwide EV infrastructure. The new goal of reaching one lakh charging points by 2030 could give India one of the most extensive charging networks in the world and support the rising demand for electric vehicles in both cities and smaller towns.

Alongside infrastructure development, Maruti Suzuki is also working on a lineup of electric vehicles that will cater to different segments and price ranges. The company has confirmed that the first model will be the e Vitara, expected to arrive in 2026. Following this, more electric SUVs, hatchbacks and family cars will roll out over the coming years. This broad portfolio is designed to ensure that electric mobility is not limited to a premium audience but becomes an affordable choice for mainstream buyers.

This strategy could help accelerate India’s EV adoption at a pace similar to what other global markets have experienced in recent years. Range anxiety and lack of charging stations remain common barriers for potential buyers. With a large scale charging network and a steady stream of new EV models, Maruti Suzuki is addressing these gaps in a structured and consumer friendly manner.
