The Maruti Suzuki e Vitara has created a strong impact in the Indian automobile market by securing a five star safety rating in the Bharat NCAP crash test. This achievement marks an important milestone for Maruti Suzuki as the brand strengthens its presence in the electric vehicle segment while placing equal emphasis on structural safety and occupant protection. The e Vitara performed impressively in both adult and child occupant protection tests, showing that the company’s first electric SUV is engineered to meet modern safety expectations.
In the adult occupant protection evaluation, the e Vitara scored close to the maximum marks by demonstrating excellent performance in frontal and side impact tests. The structure remained stable during the impact and provided high levels of protection to the head, neck and chest of the driver and front passenger. Side impact testing with a barrier and a pole further confirmed the strong build and safety design of the EV. The child occupant protection score was also notable, supported by the availability of ISOFIX mounts and a well designed restraint system that ensured the safety of young passengers during dynamic tests.
Maruti Suzuki has equipped the e Vitara with a wide range of standard safety features across all variants. These include multiple airbags, electronic stability control, seatbelt reminders for every seat, seatbelt pretensioners, load limiters and pedestrian safety enhancements. The SUV is based on a dedicated EV structure that integrates energy absorbing zones and reinforced components to offer better crash performance. This engineering approach has played a significant role in helping the model secure the highest possible rating under the latest Bharat NCAP standards.
