India Made Kawasaki W175 Set To Make Its Mark In The US

Kawasaki is preparing to take a major step by introducing the India made W175 to the United States market. This move marks the first time a motorcycle manufactured by Kawasaki in India will be sold in the US and it showcases the growing trust in Indian production quality and capability. The W175 is already known for its retro styling and easy going character and now American riders will soon get a taste of this lightweight classic.

The model heading to the US is the W175 LTD version which has already been sold in Mexico. It carries a distinct old school charm with its round headlamp clean body lines and simple layout. The US spec version features a stepped single piece seat that offers a more relaxed riding stance along with a taller handlebar that enhances comfort on long rides. Unlike the Indian version this one skips elements like the saree guard and fork gaiters making it cleaner and more universal in design. Added touches such as the heat shield on the mid pipe and a crankcase cover also make it more suitable for overseas markets.

Powering the bike is the familiar 177 cc single cylinder air cooled engine that produces close to thirteen horsepower and thirteen Newton metres of torque. It is paired with a five speed gearbox and tuned for smoothness rather than performance. The lightweight frame makes it ideal for everyday riding which is something Kawasaki aims to highlight for first time or casual riders in the US. The bike has already received certification from environmental regulators which strongly suggests an official launch is approaching soon.
