Ulster Superbike champion Carl Phillips has shared his excitement about an ambitious and diverse racing programme lined up for the 2026 season, signalling a major step forward in his career. Known for his consistency and speed on home soil, Phillips is now preparing to balance the demands of high level circuit racing with the unique challenges of international road racing, a combination that has reinvigorated his motivation for the year ahead.
After another strong campaign that underlined his credentials as one of the leading riders in Irish competition, Phillips is planning to expand his presence on UK circuits by stepping up to the National Superstock 1000 championship. The move marks a significant progression, both in terms of machinery and competition, as the class is renowned for its depth of talent and fiercely competitive nature. Phillips has acknowledged that adapting to the power and physicality of a 1000cc bike will be a demanding task, but one he believes will elevate his riding to a new level.
Alongside his circuit commitments, Phillips is also set to return to road racing, with the North West 200 firmly on his radar for 2026. The iconic Northern Irish event remains one of the highlights of the global road racing calendar, and for Phillips it represents an opportunity to test himself against some of the very best in the discipline. He has spoken about the appeal of blending circuit precision with the bravery and flow required on public road courses, describing the mix as both challenging and deeply rewarding.
A change in machinery is also part of the plan, with Phillips expected to race BMW equipment for much of the season while retaining flexibility to use alternative bikes for specific events. He believes the technical package and support available will allow him to be competitive across different formats, while also helping him develop as a more complete rider.
