The Ducati Streetfighter V2 has arrived in India and the latest version brings a fresh balance of performance, agility and everyday usability. Ducati has redesigned the motorcycle with a new 890 cc V twin engine that replaces the earlier 955 cc unit. This new motor produces around 120 hp and 93.3 Nm of torque, with more than seventy percent of its torque available as early as three thousand rpm. The result is a machine that feels strong in daily riding conditions while still delivering exciting acceleration on open roads. Riders who want an even punchier feel can opt for Ducati’s racing exhaust which increases power to about 126 hp and reduces weight by more than four kilograms.
Ducati has also focused on refining the chassis and handling. The bike uses a monocoque frame that helps in better mass centralisation and improves both agility and stability. The standard model has a dry weight of 178 kilograms while the higher V2 S variant gets a lighter lithium ion battery that drops the weight to 175 kilograms. A sport inspired swingarm design further enhances stability at higher speeds and adds to the overall confident feel of the motorcycle.
Suspension and braking hardware reflect Ducati’s performance oriented approach. The standard variant uses fully adjustable Marzocchi front forks and a KYB rear monoshock. The V2 S variant upgrades to premium Öhlins units for a sharper and more responsive ride. Braking duties are handled by powerful Brembo M50 monobloc calipers paired with Pirelli Diablo Rosso IV tyres that provide dependable grip on highways and city roads.
The electronics package is equally advanced thanks to the six axis IMU that powers features like cornering ABS, traction control, wheelie control and engine brake control. The bike also offers a quick shifter for clutchless shifts and a slipper clutch for smoother downshifts. Four riding modes including Race, Sport, Road and Wet allow the rider to customise the experience based on weather or riding style. The five inch colour TFT display adds convenience with multiple layouts that present relevant information clearly and attractively. The V2 S variant adds launch control and a pit limiter which will appeal to riders who enjoy occasional track days.
Ducati has priced the new Streetfighter V2 at seventeen point five lakh rupees ex showroom for the base variant while the top spec V2 S costs nineteen point four nine lakh rupees ex showroom. With this new version Ducati aims to deliver a motorcycle that is more accessible than hardcore superbikes yet fully capable of thrilling performance. The lighter weight, refined engine and improved electronics make it suitable for daily commutes, weekend rides and sporty highway runs.
